Fear of Loss

An empty space

But for the dark that’s screaming “somethings missing”

A fevered race

Lapped before the starting guess

Left a pondering mischief in its wake

Only evil has face

The rest is smiles and soothing love songs

Revision ain't an ever after

An ending never

Never-ending

Mirror glory

Burns a hole right through the star shine

And in its wake

A bleak pretending

Now made manifest

Where lovely whimsy

Was before it took a form

A rock casts only a shadow

The line shines through

Waiting for the rock to crumble

As it will

For rocks and stones and words do not last

Beyond the one who carries them

The brilliant beautiful

Absurd

Only wants to be nothing

And is made a thing

In jealousy

Torn down from heaven

To be devoured

By the man who fed his beast too long

And wonders why he adopted it

In the first place

Wasn't it the shame

Of colors too bright

That brought the hungry dwellers from their caves

To offer, with leash in hand,

The same fear that had been thrust upon them

By the chain of beast masters-come slaves

To the monster that preceded them
