Burden

Oh my friend

How I wish that I could bear your burdens for you

I tried, I struggled and strapped your boulders to my back

I hoped that I could carry you both up the hill

I was wrong

And had I known,

Of the foolish folly of my stalwart calling

Upon grace to save a fated dance with death

And let us rest from all our troubles,

Trials,

Tribulation,

Torment and tumultuous terror traced to wish we were anywhere else but where we are.

What a cruel twist.

A mixing of the dark and light finds

Starshine in the shadow valley's eyes

And reflected from the delicate waters of the desert

A rising hope

That can be

Worth living.
