A bar’s tale
Spirited regalia amidst the stale snacks,
Patted backs of frequent flyers,
Crack of velvet right on cue,
Contrast cast against the jukebox lights
And dolcet droning tunes.
Twilight water glasses,
Alight with lipstick
Plastered red at last
Upon the last call
Tall men with tall drink
Impolite in a winking kind of way
Stinking stools and wooden wardens
Warmer than a world adorned with painful process
Prickly pink princesses
Pretentious policy
And sober boredom
